H & H Pest Control & Waterproofing Introduce
For residents and business owners in the western North Carolina area, particularly around Shelby, managing the persistent threats of pests and structural moisture often requires two different contractors. H & H Pest Control & Waterproofing offers a combined, integrated solution for these crucial property maintenance needs. Since 1974, this established, family-owned organization has proudly served Cleveland, Gaston, Rutherford, and Lincoln County areas, growing into a cornerstone of the community known for its dual expertise in keeping properties both pest-free and dry.

H & H addresses this by specializing in both Residential And Commercial Pest Control and essential Foundation Waterproofing, recognizing that moisture problems often directly contribute to pest issues. By offering a Free Inspection and a range of technical solutions, the company aims to provide a single, expert source for property protection.
H & H Pest Control & Waterproofing is committed to a professional, customer-focused approach. They emphasize the use of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), a strategy that goes beyond simple chemical application to employ multiple tactics for long-term control. This method, combined with their hands-on experience in addressing structural water intrusion, positions them as a holistic provider for securing your most valuable assets. While customer experiences, especially regarding complex Water Proofing projects, may vary and highlight the importance of clear communication and upfront discussion of expected outcomes, the company’s decades of operation reflect a deep-rooted commitment to serving the local community’s needs with a comprehensive suite of services.
The ability to secure both structural waterproofing and pest control from a single provider, who understands the synergy between a damp environment and pest attraction, is a significant advantage for North Carolina property owners. H & H’s technicians are equipped to handle a wide variety of infestations, from Common Pests to specialized issues like Bed Bug Infestations and German Roach problems. Their preventative work, such as Moisture Barrier Installation and general Pest Control Inspections, are essential steps in maintaining a healthy, safe, and dry environment.

The most compelling reason for North Carolina residents to choose H & H Pest Control & Waterproofing is the unique integration of Pest Control Service and structural Waterproofing Service under one roof. In a region where humidity and heavy rain are constant factors, the interconnectedness of moisture issues leading to pests like termites, German Roach, and spiders is undeniable. By offering both Foundation Waterproofing with systems like French Drains and highly specific pest solutions like Residential Termite Control, H & H is positioned to provide a holistic and comprehensive defense for a property’s entire structural envelope.
While the company’s long history and local roots since 1974 attest to its established presence, new clients should engage in clear, detailed communication about the scope and guaranteed outcomes of complex installations, such as the drainage systems. This is particularly important given past customer feedback regarding expectations versus results in the waterproofing division. For pest control, the commitment to Integrated Pest Management is a significant positive, indicating a focus on long-term prevention through methods like exclusion and Moisture Barrier Installation, rather than just chemical quick fixes for Common Pests. For services like Mosquito Control, the Recurring Services offer necessary seasonal relief. By choosing H & H, clients are selecting a deeply local company with the experience and infrastructure to address the two greatest long-term threats to a North Carolina property: pests and water damage.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1If you want to be made to feel like an idiot for trusting a company, this is the one for you. Paid them to do a water proofing job due in to an old broken trench drain system that was not draining properly and allowing water to flood our garage. Paul came out and assessed the situation and was very confident that all we needed was a new system installed. Because “the old one probably used to work.” I began to have issues upon the day of the install For one, Paul stated that they would be buying and installing the drains in 10 foot sections. However, day of bringing them, he said he couldn’t find 10 footers and 5 footers would still be straight. Upon completion, they are not straight. It’s a hack job. (See included photo) When I shrugged that off and went to clean the drains out two week later. I found that they covers could not be removed without considerable force and use of a pry bar. When I called Paul to inform him. He came over, used a flat head screwdriver and said “that’s just what you have to do.” Which is completely inaccurate. For drains that are done correctly, the covers can be removed easily by hand. He wouldn’t speak on it anymore with me and left… Now the ultimate kicker for our experience. We had finally received rain and with that rain, it brought a flood into the garage. I took pictures and called to report it. Paul was out of office and Allen (president of the company/branch) came over to take a look. Upon inspecting everything, he stated “we probably should’ve put a bigger drain in.” Which I asked, why didn’t y’all? He told me that he would have to consult with Paul and get back to me. Paul showed up on my doorstep the following Monday. He told me that the problem is “volume” and pointed at our roof and where the downspout comes out. Because the volume of water coming down the driveway and off our roof is too much for the trench drain to handle. When I asked why that wasn’t calculated, he said “well, it was, but we can’t always know how much rain we’re getting.” So, I asked about how they would fix the problem. He then stated options, that all were at our cost. Even though, they did nothing to even fix our situation. We were still getting just as much water with their new drain, as we were with the old broken drain. He then quoted their warranty which is apparently in accordance to the national weather service… Paul attempted to explain that it’s a matter of inches per hour, but couldn’t provide an answer to how many is normal. He said “they don’t know, we can’t say” Which is layman’s terms means the warranty is rigged for as a safeguard for them not to repair shoddy work. It was only after leaving some reviews that Paul reached back out to provide a solution. One being a 4” corrugated pipe installed to divert the roof water away from the trench drain. (Garage still flood by the way) When I got a rain gauge and did my research (also have a brother in law who does water diversion for whole neighborhoods) I found that the rain we were getting was normal for our area and in accordance with the national weather service. I provided that information to Paul who had never seen it before in his life (doesn’t have any business working for waterproofing) He then switched his stance from the “inordinate amount of rainfall” to “when did I promise that we would fix the problem?” “Did I tell you that this would work?” That’s when I realized they weren’t going to accept responsibility and I told him not to call until they had a solution. It’s been 5 months and I still haven’t heard anything.
January 09 · Joshua LacheneyI paid $1000 last August for fire ant control for the year. Over the winter I didn’t need follow up service but the beginning of spring I started calling for the abundance of mounds coming up in my yard.My first issue was they came and wanted me to show them where the mounds were. I paid them a thousand dollars and I have a little less than an acre. That is not service. There were so many mounds that they really should have retreated the entire yard.My second issue is the next time they cameHe just ended up giving me the granuals because the grass was too high. This was the worst service by a pest control company I’ve ever experienced. Then I asked them to dust in my crawl spaces because I didn’t want to have pest control spray inside my house. I do not have bugs inside but wanted the prevention of ants and such. After 3 months of back and forth and them telling me the little puddle of water in my large crawl space prevents them from dusting under my house. Instead of being men and figuring it out. They did a moisture barrier evaluation which was mandatory for them to spray under my house. H and H never resolved my issue, never got back to me about other options for treating the crawl space and really did not care about doing a terrible half assed job with my yard or losing my business.I read reviews from the FB group what’s up Shelby about pest control service in the area. Clearly, H and H isn’t the company it used to be or they had different service technicians that could trouble shoot and get the service done right for the customer.I am very disappointed, I didn’t want to give up on them but I think six months is plenty of time to give for them to solve a small issue. When I called today to express my concerns the guy who answers and schedules folks had no sense of urgency to help solve my issues. I assume they could care less about losing business. Get it together H and H.
July 24 · Angela RileyI have seen a 3 year old kid at the beach create a better water diversion system then H&H.Literally hire anyone other than H&H
June 06 · John JonesAbout a week or so ago I noticed Carpenter Ants climbing a pillar out front. I called H & H and informed them about the situation and they informed me that they would "send the best guy". He came out and was clearly aware of the situation. He went back to his H&H truck to get a ladder. He brought back a stepping stool. Keep in mind that the Ants were about 9-10 feet up. The man that they sent was around 60 yrs old, 110 lbs, about 5ft 5in tall and with his stepping stool (at 6ft 2in) I was still taller than he was. So very quickly he realized that his stepping stool was not going to do the job. So I had to go outback and find him a ladder that he could use. After we finally got the ladder out front, he climbed up, sprayed bug spray (what I would imagine was very similar to the can of raid that we had out and could have used) in the crevices around the top of the pillar. It took probably 5-10 minutes total. It took far longer getting out our ladder or having to put it back after he finished. While I will say that the man was very courgal and respectfull, I think $150 for what was done seems a bit high. Perhaps I expected him to do more and maybe $150 to spray some bugs spray is the going rate but I can't imagine 10 minutes of labor and some bug spray costing $150.
July 02 · Sean SwansonMike was terrific! He came out and did the inspection and we decided to set up an appointment with them. He was not only on time but very friendly and informative! We will definitely use the monthly services! Thank you H and H for having such great employees!!!
