My Bat Guy Introduce
For Michigan homeowners and businesses, dealing with unexpected wildlife or pest intrusions can be a stressful and sometimes urgent matter. My Bat Guy, operating from Lapeer, MI, positions itself as a specialized provider in this critical field, focusing heavily on humane bat removal and comprehensive wildlife control. The company's unique approach blends professional pest control techniques with specialized expertise in managing and excluding larger wildlife that often seek shelter in Michigan homes, particularly in attic spaces.
The company, led by owner Ron Pelshaw, emphasizes offering a full spectrum of services that extend beyond simple removal. They tackle everything from initial inspection and exclusion to full attic restoration and preventative maintenance, aiming to provide a complete solution to wildlife and pest problems. This comprehensive model is designed to address the entire issue: getting the animals out, cleaning up the resulting mess, and sealing the home to prevent future re-entry. My Bat Guy serves a broad area of Michigan, including Oakland, Livingston, Washtenaw, Macomb, Ingham, and Lapeer Counties, among others, making them accessible to a large portion of the Lower Peninsula community.
However, it is crucial for Michigan residents to approach this service with informed caution. While the company outlines an extensive service offering, customer reviews from the local community have expressed significant concerns regarding the execution of work, adherence to promised warranties, and responsiveness to customer complaints. Prospective clients are strongly encouraged to weigh the ambitious scope of services against the detailed feedback concerning work quality and customer service follow-through before committing to a package.
My Bat Guy is headquartered in Lapeer, MI, making it a central point of operation for its extensive service area across the state. This location allows them to dispatch technicians (including one named Lane in customer reports) for onsite services across multiple counties, which is necessary for timely wildlife response.
The company focuses on making initial contact simple by providing a direct phone line and offering services that are initiated with an onsite inspection. It is important to note that, as reported by customers, inspections may come with a fee and can be a significant part of the overall cost and sales process.

- Inspection, Prevention, and Emergency: Includes Home Inspection, General pest inspection, Business Inspection, Pest Prevention, Preventative Maintenance, and critically, 24/7 Emergency Services for urgent wildlife concerns.
The company promotes several key features intended to assure clients of professional, effective service:
- Specialized Expertise: The company's name and extensive service list suggest a deep specialization in bat and larger animal exclusion, which is a niche requirement often demanding specific skills and knowledge for humane, legal removal in Michigan.
- Full-Service Restoration Model: The inclusion of services like Attic Restoration and Disinfecting Services means the company proposes to manage the entire process, from initial intrusion to the complete restoration of the affected area, saving the homeowner from needing multiple contractors.
- Availability: The offering of 24/7 Emergency Services is a significant feature for urgent wildlife intrusions, providing a necessary level of accessibility for time-sensitive problems.
- Onsite Service: The primary model is built around Onsite services, which is essential for accurate diagnosis and effective application of exclusion and removal techniques.
However, an equally important highlight comes from consistent customer feedback, which points to significant issues that prospective clients must consider:
- Warranty Refusal and Refund Issues: A major concern is the refusal to honor warranty work on a previously completed exclusion and the subsequent refusal to provide a full refund after a new, costly job could not be completed due to structural complexities.
- Subpar Workmanship: Reported issues include work being done unannounced, taking significantly less time than promised, and resulting in unacceptable quality, such as "black foam dripping down the brick" and "black stuff smeared all across the white facia board."
- Poor Communication and Follow-Up: Customers have faced ignored voicemails, unprofessional conduct from management (Kelly), and difficulties in obtaining promised refunds, even after the owner (Ron) acknowledged the work was unacceptable.
- Sales-Driven Approach: One customer reported that the technician spent more time "trying to sell me the package than he did inspecting the house" during a paid inspection, raising concerns about the focus on upselling over diagnostics.
My Bat Guy presents an appealing model for Michigan residents needing comprehensive wildlife and bat exclusion, particularly those in the Lapeer, Oakland, and surrounding county areas. The immense range of services—from bat removal and rodent proofing to full attic cleaning and insulation—offers a strong proposition for a single-contract solution to complex home intrusion problems.
The company's focus on humane methods and its 24/7 emergency availability are valuable features for Michigan homeowners facing sudden, distressing wildlife issues. Owner Ron Pelshaw's reported long history in the bat removal business and his stated commitment to ethical standards and customer satisfaction, as found in the 'About Info,' could provide a basis for trust.
However, the decision to hire My Bat Guy must be made with the direct and explicit awareness of the public feedback. The detailed complaints regarding warranty conflicts, unfulfilled contracts, substandard installation, and significant issues with refunds and communication are critical red flags. For a service that involves structural repair and significant expense (with reported costs over $1,000 for partial work), the stability of the contract and the reliability of the follow-through are paramount. Prospective clients are strongly advised to document all pre-purchase promises, verify all warranty coverage in writing with clear conditions, and ensure a mutual understanding of job completion requirements to mitigate the risks noted in local customer reports.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Extremely disappointed with our experience with My Bat Guy. We purchased a home that had a previously full exclusion and restoration done, and came with a 1 year warranty. When contacting the company they came out and reinspected, and said the work wouldn’t be covered under the warranty. But they would provide us a credit towards the work that needed to be done. We proceeded, paid $1k and when the tech came out he was only able to seal one section, and advised that he couldn’t finished the job unless we took down an outside access to our basement. So he left and we were out $1k until we could complete this. Turns out this area is tied into our main wall of our brick house and would be an extremely costly job. I contacted the company to get a refund since the job wasn’t done and we aren’t going to be able to proceed with their requirement for quite some time and they are now refusing to provide any form of refund saying the job was mostly complete which is a flat out lie. I strongly recommend if you need services you don’t go with this company and find someone else to do the work. We are going to be filing a formal complaint through the BBB and contacting our bank to make this right since My Bat Guy has decided they won’t do the right thing.
August 06 · Arielle FlynnUpdate:Just read the owners response. It will tell you everything that you need to know about him.Lane from My Bat Guy came out to my house and did an inspection. I paid $150 for the inspection. It took about 20 minutes. The technician spent more time trying to sell me the package than he did inspecting the house. Going against better judgement, I purchased a $1452.36 bat exclusion package. The technician showed up unannounced and did the work while I was away. I received a random text message indicating that the work was finished. The technician spent 30 minutes on the job (according to the text message that I received from them). This was worrisome considering the amount of work that was promised and quoted during my inspection.I was shocked when I showed up to inspect the work. There was black foam dripping down the brick. There was also black stuff smeared all across the white facia board. This wasn't in one random spot, it was like this around the whole perimeter of the house. It's bad enough to be seen from the street. The manager Kelly was one of the most unprofessional people that I've ever had to deal with. I ended up escalating my complaint up to the owner Ron. He was a little more understanding and he agreed that this work was not acceptable. Ron told me that I would only be responsible for the $150 inspection fee. I have yet to be fully refunded. I am still out $726.18. I've tried leaving voicemails which get ignored.Ron assured me that I was the only person that has ever complained about their work. Just read their reviews and you'll see that's a lie. The images below show what type of work you can expect from My Bat Guy.
April 29 · Andy ERon P from My Bat Guy came out and did an inspection and provided us with a solution to our bat problem. Very professional. We're on the schedule for bat removal. My family will be happy when it's done.
September 08 · Frank Gyomory JrI had them out to remove my bat problem. Seemed to work at first. Spent way to much on this and there outdoor pest bait rocks. I have more bats now then before. They charged me to replace all of y ridge vents. I called them back out to look at the ridge vents because I could see that they where coming up on the corners and had noticed more bats. They wanted to charge me again to have them fixed. they also wanted me to pay for the service call. I will be calling a different company out.
September 05 · Michael ParishReally great service! I was getting ready for work when I noticed a bat in my living room hanging from my light strip. I called them as soon as they opened and they sent someone out in about 20 minutes! Super fast, I was afraid I would have to wait and miss work. But I was surprised when she told me he would be right over! He came out and caught the bat easily. I'm super thankful! Thank you Trent and my bat guy for the help this morning!!
