When evaluating a local pest control provider in North Carolina, the decision comes down to balancing scope of service with reliability and customer experience. Winston Pest Control offers a strong initial draw through its extensive list of services, covering everything from minor insect issues like ants and spiders to major concerns such as bed bugs, rodents, and comprehensive Nuisance Animal Control. This breadth of expertise means you may not need to call multiple specialists for different types of pests, which is a major convenience.
The company also shows strong potential in its field execution, with one highly positive review citing a rapid, professional, and effective handling of a dangerous hornet and wasp extermination by a technician named Sarah. This demonstrates the company's capability to deliver timely, expert service for urgent, hazardous problems.
However, prospective clients must also exercise caution and perform due diligence, as the provided customer feedback presents a dichotomy of experiences. While one account highlights swift, professional, and effective service, another review details a protracted, difficult, and confrontational interaction with the owner, Tim Reynolds, regarding alleged inaccurate diagnosis and poor customer service related to mice abatement. This suggests a potential inconsistency in service delivery or customer interaction quality, particularly concerning conflict resolution and accurate diagnosis of complex pest/animal issues, such as differentiating between mice, squirrels, and raccoons in an attic space.
For local users considering Winston Pest Control, it is highly recommended to seek clear, written agreements regarding the diagnosis, proposed treatment, and associated costs, especially for multi-stage jobs like animal exclusion and repair. The company has demonstrated capacity for excellent work, but due to conflicting reports concerning management interactions, users should ensure all service expectations are managed transparently from the outset to secure a satisfactory experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We discovered a wasp nest near our patio, and Sarah from this company came the same day. She was very professional, wore the right protective gear, and explained exactly how she would handle the nest. Sarah worked quickly but safely, making sure everything was done properly. The entire process took less than an hour. Afterward, the area was completely safe for my kids to play outside again. I appreciated her speed and expertise. Sarah was fantastic and very reliable.
October 01 · StricklandBottom line: Do *not* use this company’s services. The owner (Tim Reynolds) insisted on berating and yelling at me and talking in circles when I requested half of my money (I was charged $356 for mice abatement) back for *inaccurately* treating my home for mice. Tim Reynolds is a *con*.Red flag #1: On the initial phone call to request for services, I explained the scratching noises coming from the attic. Tim Reynolds *insisted* I had mice. He stated the last couple houses he treated had mice issues.Red flag #2: To Tim Reynold’s credit, he *did* find the access point into the attic the suspected mice could potential come through, of which, he did *not* patch at the time of service (this would be an extra $300 charge on the next visit) Tim accessed one (1) of my attic entry points and stated that I, sure enough, had mice. He showed me a picture of *half* of the attic space depicting droppings. At that point, I OK’d the abatement treatment for the mice. I was told it would take a couple days to weeks for them to be gone.Red flag #3: My check for $356 had *not* been deposited until 3-4 weeks later. The check was processed after I contacted him again regarding the same scratching noises I heard prior to calling Tim Reynolds the first time. Tim did *not* contact me back until over 24 hours later. At this point, I had already called and set up a second opinion with another company (Bel-O Pest Solutions—you should DEFINITELY call them for services. Lower prices and *accurately* identify the problem). Tim followed up with a text message (it was Friday at 504am—I initially contacted him on Thursday) stating he would give me a call Saturday). Tim did *not* contact me like he stated he would.**Bel-O Pest Solutions was able to come out the next day, assess what had been done, removed the abatement (stated there *had* been mice in the attic at *one* time). Bel-O’s tech stated the scratching noise could be a raccoon or a grey squirrel (I suspected a squirrel). Dan walked me through what he was going to do. Accessed both attics *and* closed the opening where the rodents were accessing the attic….for a fraction of the cost ($140) Tim Reynolds charged. The pest was, in fact, a grey squirrel in my attic, which had been caught by the trap Dan at Bel-O Pest Solutions set.Red flag #4: After noticing Tim Reynolds had *not* called me back to follow up on a service request, I noticed my $356 check cleared my account (*huge* red flag). I called Tim Reynolds (the first time), explained to him the situation, and requested half ($150) of my money back due to inaccurate work but still paying him for part of the service. He started talking in circles about how he’s done “this” for 37 years, how he was right, how I was mistaken, how Bel-O Pest Solutions tech’s rotate constantly (implying the tech’s at Bel-O didn’t know what they were doing). Then he proceeded to tell me how he has been “friends” with Bel-O Pest Solutions owner of “years.” I allowed him to talk in circles for about 10 minutes. I told him I’d gladly return the abatement (bite-free, of which, he insisted I wasn’t able to get all of it out of the attic). Throughout this phone call, I was very kind to Tim Reynolds—not once did I raise my voice or become disrespectful. He also *insisted* getting into my attic to view what was going on. I told Tim Reynolds a number of times I did not need that and I had another company on the job. Before the conversation ended, he stated he would call Bel-O about the situation, and I agreed to return the abatement Friday (it’s currently Wednesday).
March 03 · Nicolette WatsonMy mom had worked with someone who works for Tim. After 4 weeks of trying to get pests out, Tim decided to get access to keys of this house from his associate (and did not get permission from the caretaker) and just entered the home. So after Tim committed breaking and entering, he tried to push his overpriced tactics. After that was shut down, he became unprofessional and now will not get his equipment nor check his equipment for pests. Do not hire these people. They are a joke.
May 30 · Amy CraigContinued from previous posting:I exceeded the character limit on my pervious review so I felt it necessary to continue with my review of the services and treatment I received from Tim Reynolds of Metro East Wildlife Control.Red flag #5 (at this point, it’s beyond red flags but…for consistency): A couple hours later, I returned to my phone with a missed phone call and voicemail. Voicemail informing me of the conversation he had with Bel-O’s owner and a number of other things that were discussed (I honest didn’t get through the entire vm). I called Tim back and told him I wasn’t interested in talking in circles with him, I just wanted to know how we could rectify the issue, specifically with getting half of my money back. Tim Reynolds at Metro East Wildlife Control began to berate me for the entire length of the conversation. Telling me I was wrong, he wasn’t going to give my money back, or even come to a compromise. Money was the bottom line for this guy…not the reputation of his company, Metro East Wildlife Control, which is counterproductive. If you want the money, don’t you think you should have some *sense* of customer service skills? Tim Reynolds stated that if I had a problem, then I needed to talk to Bel-O Pest Solutions. I continued to tell him I wasn’t going to talk in circles to him. Needless to say, I had to hang up on him due to the *complete* disrespect (berating) and yelling.Bottom line: Absolutely do *not* use this company for *any* service. Tim Reynolds is *only* interested in your money, much like the comment in a previous review.
March 03 · Nicolette Watson*WILDLY OVERPRICED* --- Tim, the owner charged us $395 to put a few handfuls of bait packets in my basement.. it took him 15 minutes...that price didn't include follow up visits, entry point remediation, or clean up. He didn't even inspect the exterior of the house at all. I could have put bait down myself. I was outraged to pay almost $400 and when I complained about the price he lied saying he had warned me about the price on the phone and was using gaslight techniques to try to question my memory of the conversation.. when we asked him why it is so expensive to put bait down he claimed that the bait is $100. We looked up the bait online at it costs $35... he just wants your money and he completely TAKES ADVANTAGE of people in crisis in their homes.... DO NOT hire this company
