Features / Highlights for Virginia Homeowners
What truly sets Hug-A-Bug Pest Control apart in the Virginia market is their dual focus on pest control and structural repair, offering a unique value proposition for local homeowners.
- Integrated Pest and Structural Solutions: Unlike many standard exterminators, they offer in-house crawlspace and structural repair services for termite and moisture damage. This means one company can handle the pest removal, address the cause (moisture), and repair the resulting damage to floor joists or sub-floors, which is highly beneficial for seamless project completion.
- Experience in the Local Real Estate Market: The provision of Wood Destroying and Moisture Letters (WDI Letters) demonstrates their active role in Virginia's real estate transactions, making them a key resource for Realtors, buyers, and sellers who require official documentation before closing a sale.
- Commitment to Responsiveness: Positive customer feedback frequently highlights the agency's responsiveness and the accessibility of the owner, Mr. Jim, who reportedly ensures customer needs are addressed promptly and even after hours, suggesting a personalized, small-business approach.
- Competitive Repair Pricing (Historically): At least one long-time customer review noted that the company provided structural repair quotes that were less than half the price of quotes from other foundation companies, indicating they have historically been competitive in the costly structural repair market.
- Extensive Local Experience: Having served Virginia Beach for over 20 years, they possess the local expertise needed to tackle pests endemic to the region's coastal and humid climate. They are licensed and insured, operating with a high level of confidence in their extermination and structural repair abilities.

What is Worth Choosing Hug-A-Bug Pest Control
Choosing a local pest control service in Virginia Beach requires balancing experience with reliability. Hug-A-Bug Pest Control is worth considering because of its comprehensive, dual-service model: they are one of the few local agencies that successfully combine expert pest/termite elimination with the essential, costly service of crawlspace and structural repair. For a Virginia homeowner, avoiding the hassle of coordinating between an exterminator, a foundation company, and a handyman for a single termite or moisture issue is a significant advantage. The reported long-term loyalty of many customers, who praise the owner's responsiveness and the competitive pricing on major structural work, speaks to a history of dependable service and customer-first care. However, it is essential for prospective customers to be aware of the mixed review profile, particularly the serious, recent customer complaint concerning a large payment for uncompleted work and the warning from a professional Realtor. This highlights the importance of open communication, securing detailed contracts, and verifying work completion when engaging in extensive, high-cost structural projects with any contractor. For routine pest services and real estate inspections, their deep local experience and commitment to being available remain a strong factor for many homeowners and professionals across the Hampton Roads area.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Love this agency! We’ve used them for both of our houses and for over 5 years. There’s never a time of day where they aren’t available or the owner Mr. Jim hasn’t made sure our needs are addressed. They don’t dry to shorthand you like other companies either. We reviewed 3 other quotes from foundation companies that were well over $30k. They came in at less than half the price. They truly care about your wants and make everything urgent. Wouldn’t have picked anyone else!!
September 21 · jamillah oldsWarning to ALL Realtors and Consumers! I paid $9,125.00 on 5/13/2024 for Hug A Bug to complete termite and moisture issues on my home prior to listing it for sale. I was told work was completed. In January we received an offer and the buyer completed their home inspection. I was told the termite and moisture damage was extensive, and in desperate need of attention. I call John to ask what the problem was. He stated “I don’t know what to say”. I was furious. This company literally took NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS of my money and walked away. Never did ANYTHING. If the buyer wouldn’t have had an inspection I would have never known John and his company had quite frankly robbed me.DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They will and HAVE taken people’s money and walked away.Very disappointed in this company that I had previously trusted with my own homes and my clients homes for over 12 years.Never again, Katie Burke- Owner Katie Burke Homes

September 12 · Andrew HamptonI have been dealing with this company over 13 years. Today Nick came by and did an excellent job. Nick and all of the other techs at this company take pride in their work. Nick was courteous and patient with my pet and he respected my home. He asked before he went into the bed rooms he was highly professional but very down to earth and a really cool cat.I could have chosen the other companies but I didn't because Everytime Hug A Bug services my home, I never have any issues with the work or the customer service. These guys are A 1 with me. The best in the 7 cities hands down.C. Drake
